Prioritize Safety! E-Scooter Safety Guidelines

  1. Wear Appropriate Safety Gear:

    • Always wear a helmet that fits properly.
    • Consider wearing knee and elbow pads, as well as gloves to protect against abrasions.
    • Always wear a Reflective Vest or Clothing: To enhance your visibility, especially in low-light conditions or at night, consider wearing a reflective vest or clothing that makes you more noticeable to other road users. Increasing your visibility can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.
  2. Inspect the E-Scooter:

    • Before riding, check the scooter's tires, brakes, and lights for any issues.
    • Ensure the scooter is fully charged, and the battery is in good condition.
  3. Follow Irish Laws and Regulations:

    • Familiarize yourself with local laws regarding e-scooter use, including age restrictions, speed limits, and where you can ride. At the moment, electric scooters can only be used on private land. It is effectively illegal to use them on public roads, on pavements, in cycle lanes and in pedestrian-only areas.
  4. Mind Your Speed:

    • Riding with high speed or a speed that is not appropriate or adequate for the situation (bad weather conditions, bad surface conditions, or the like) may lead into a potential loss of stability or loss of control. To reduce any risk, you must follow all instructions in the Navee Scooter pack manual inside of the box. Be careful when mounting and dismantling the product, it may fall and cause injury.
    • Stay within the recommended speed limit. We strongly recommend that you keep your speed within 15 kph, which is the limit in D mode. Adjust your speed according to the conditions and your surroundings. We do not recommend using S mode, as it may be difficult to control in case of unexpected situations.
    • Slow down when approaching intersections, pedestrians, or obstacles.
  5. Be Alert and Aware:

    • Stay vigilant at all times. Pay attention to your surroundings, including riding near bikes, passing pedestrians, and road conditions.
    • Be cautious to maintain balance, and consider lower speeds. Avoid distractions like using your phone while riding.
    • Never let your guard down.
  6. Use Hand Signals:

    • Signal your turns and stops using hand signals to indicate your intentions to other road users.
  7. Respect Pedestrians:

    • Yield the right of way to pedestrians.
    • Slow down or dismount when passing pedestrians, and give them plenty of space.
  8. Brake Gradually:

    • Apply brakes gently to avoid sudden stops, which can lead to loss of control.
  9. Park Responsibly:

    • Park e-scooters in designated areas or follow local regulations for parking.
    • Do not obstruct sidewalks or pathways.
  10. Avoid Riding in Inclement Weather:

    • Rain, snow, and slippery conditions can reduce traction and increase the risk of accidents. Avoid riding in adverse weather conditions.
  11. Keep Both Hands on the Handlebars:

    • Maintain a firm grip on the handlebars and avoid carrying items in both hands while riding.
  12. Be Cautious at Night:

    • Use lights and reflective clothing to make yourself visible to others when riding in low-light conditions.
  13. Stay Sober:

    • Do not operate an e-scooter while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  14. Practice Safe Riding Techniques:

    • Learn how to control the scooter properly, including accelerating, braking, and turning.
  15. Take Care of Your E-Scooter:

    • Report any maintenance issues to the scooter provider or operator.

Remember that safety should always be your top priority when riding an electric scooter. Following these guidelines will help ensure a safer and more enjoyable riding experience for both you and others, be safe, be safe and be safe."
